Eid rodan

My name is Eid Rodan, and I am a senior at Lexington High School in Massachusetts, originally from Jordan. For the past several years I have spent my summers volunteering at the Al-Zaatari refugee camp, one of the largest camps in the world. I started by teaching English to children, but I quickly realized that what I was doing went beyond the lessons. Education gave the kids confidence, joy, and a sense of hope that carried into their daily lives. This website is a way for me to share my experiences, the projects I have been part of, and the stories of the people I met.

Education is Possibility

Volunteering began for me when I was very young, visiting camps with my father to deliver food and clothes to families in need. When my family moved to the United States, I thought I might lose the chance to continue this kind of work. Instead, we made it a priority to return to Jordan in the summers, and each time my role grew bigger.

This initiative was made possible through key partnerships that connected me to the community. Acting for Change International gave me access to their caravan school in Al-Zaatari Village, where I was able to teach English. The Abu Nusair Sports Club gave me access to the Al-Zaatari camp itself, allowing me to work directly with children and families inside the camp.
